USArtists International Offers Funding for Artists to Perform at Festivals Abroad
USArtists International, a program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is committed to ensuring that the range of expression and creativity of the performing arts in the United States is represented at international festivals abroad.
Grants are available to American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists that have been invited to participate in international festivals outside the United States. Eligible applicants must be dance, music or theater ensembles, including practitioners of folk and traditional forms, that work at a professional level, count a majority of members who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., and have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status or have a fiscal sponsor with such status.
The deadline is January 8, 2010, for projects taking place between March 1, 2010, and February 28, 2011; and May 3, 2010, for projects taking place between July 1, 2010, and June 30, 2011.

The Folk Arts Program at the New York State Council on the Arts, founded in 1985, is devoted to perpetuating New York State’s living cultural heritage of folk arts and maintaining the extraordinary cultural and stylistic diversity of New York’s traditional arts. It provides funding for over 70 nonprofit organizations each year. Its primary mission is to support traditions practiced within communities. The Program also supports programming that enables general audiences to experience traditional arts from New York State as well as from cultures elsewhere in the world. The AIRtime program provides artists (individuals and/or collectives) with valuable assistance with which to concentrate on new transmission works and conduct research about the genre using free103point9′s resource library and equipment holdings. AIRtime Fellowships are awarded to approximately three artists each year. Fellows present their work in conjunction with WGXC, in Greene and Columbia Counties, and our city-based programs at the Ontological Theater at St. Mark’s Church in Manhattan. Fellows receive an honorarium, and technical and administrative support from free103point9 staff. Participating artists are encouraged to archive recordings and other digital media with the free103point9 Transmission Art Archive project. MORE
free 103point9 $10,000 GRANT FOR NEW YORK STATE ARTISTS
free103point9 is pleased to announce the 2010 Distribution Grant for New York State Artists providing support for the distribution of new works in film, video, sound, new-media, and media-installation. Grant awards will assist artists in making works available to public audiences and may include, but are not limited to: moving image and sound works; duplication of preview, screening and exhibition copies; promotional materials including documentation and schematics of media-installation and new-media works. The rental or purchase of equipment essential for exhibition/distribution by individual artists is also eligible. Artists may request funding support up to a maximum amount of $10,000. Successful grantees will also be awarded the opportunity to work with a project mentor.
Applications are submitted electronically through an online application process and must be submitted on-line by 11:59 p.m. December 31, 2009.
